Canyon de Chelly

Canyon de Chelly

Canyon de Chelly Pillow with the image printed on leather. The scene shows a traveling tribe moving camp against the backdrop of huge mesas in western New Mexico. This image was photographed by renowned naturalist/photographer Edward Curtis. Curtis traveled the American West in the late 1800s and photographed Native American Indians who posed for him in their natural habitat and clothing. Curtis was instrumental in documenting the lifestyle of American Indians with his photographic story telling. Without his enormous contribution, giving us and future generations a glimpse into the everyday life of Native Americans, we would have no way of seeing how native inhabitants lived before America was settled. Made in a supple cowhide leather with 3 inch fringe. Antiqued nickel silver studs and lacing frame the image. Back is faux suede.

Size: 18 in. X 18 in.
